The elegant look of a hardwood floor can add warmth and character to any room in your home. The natural characteristics of wood add depth and a visual appearance that many other types of floors try to duplicate.

There are two main types of wood flooring: solid, usually 14mm – 21mm thick and engineered.  Solid flooring must be either stuck with specialized adhesive or ‘secret nailed’ to the sub-floor.  Engineered flooring normally has a veneer of 4mm or 5mm hardwood that is bonded to a plywood structured base and can be laid as a ‘floating floor’ with the planks glued together.  As this type of floor is more stable it can be used with under-floor heating.  Solid wood floors are not suitable with under-floor heating or ‘wet’ areas.

Real wood flooring is visually stunning, natural and unique and there is no substitute for the look it creates.  However, it essential that it is fitted correctly by a professional so we always carry out a full on-site inspection where we check the level and condition of the sub-floor and take readings with a damp meter.  We will identify any potential problems that may occur with the installation and will find the correct solutions to ensure your complete satisfaction.
