Ensuring that you get the best from your carpet for longer involves making sure that you deal with what comes floorwards is dealt with correctly.
NEVER USE WASHING UP LIQUIDS.
Scoop up any solids from your carpet with a knife or spoon. Use a suitable means of dealing with a stain. Washing up liquids can damage the fibres.
ALWAYS blot up a spillage using a white absorbent paper (such as kitchen towel). Using a white paper means that you can easily see if the paper is picking up any more. When no more liquid is being picked up, even when pressure is applied, you know you have got it all.
Before treating a stain in the carpet, test whatever treatment you plan to use on part of the carpet which is out of sight. That way you can check to see if the treatment will have any negative affect on the carpet.
Use a dabbing motion to remove a stain, work from the outside inwards to prevent it from spreading.
NEVER rub at a stain in a carpet, you will permanently and visibly damage the carpet. |
